Ecclesiology, a term taken from either the Greek word ecclesia, is that branch of Christian theology that deals with a doctrine pertaining to the Church: its role in salvation, & its origin, its discipline, and its leadership.

A terms ecclesial & ecclesiastical, mean that a tool or even action described has to wash using a Christian Church. For instance, an "ecclesial movement" occurs as movement in a Church.

Issues addressed by ecclesiology

Ecclesiology asks a questions: World health organization is the Church? Would it be the seeable or even earthly corporation? Or even would it be a body of whole believing Christians regardless of their denominational differences and disunity? What is the relationship between dwelling Christians & departed Christians?

Must 1 join the church? What is the role of corporate worship in the spiritual lives of believers? Would it be as a matter of fact necessary?

What is the authority of the Christian church? Is the institution itself, either in one corporate system, or even typically, an independent vehicle of revelation or of God's grace? Or even is the Church's authority dependant on & derivative of a anterior divine revelation, & single institutions come the Church to the extent that it teach that message?

What does a Church run? Is the Church's rôlupus erythematosus primarily a performance of sacraments for the spiritual growth of believers? Or even is the Church's primary duty to preach and teach the Gospel?

How else should a Church become governed? What come a proper methods of finding clergy such as bishops and priests? Is an ordained clergy necessary?

What come a roles of spiritual gifts in the life of the church?

How else does a Church relate to the covenants expressed in scripture to God's chosen people?

What is the ultimate destiny of the Church in Christian eschatology?
